The End of Grade 11 Physics

Hi everyone:
Good luck to you in writing the exam. Hope this blog helped you in the course.
Thanks to all who contributed, in a big way or in a small way.
See you in grade 12 physics.

Electromagnetism

Well today we worked on a sheet about right hand rules and also went over a magnetic field worksheet as well as other excersise questions.

Our test is tomorrow so here's a few things to remember.

First Right Hand Rule:

-Thumb points to the direction that the current flows.
-The other fingers point in the direction that the magnetic field circles in.

Second Right Hand Rule:

-This is used when you have an electromagnetic field.
- The iron core inside the coil increases the magnet's strength.
-The direction of the thumb points to the North pole of the magnet.
-The direction of the conventional current flow is indicated by the direction which the fingers curl.

Third Right Hand Rule:

-The thumb represents the direction of the current.
-The fingers represent the direction of the magnetic field.
- The direction of the force acting on the wire is represented by the direction of the palm.

Don't forget this equation:

B = f / IL

F is the force of the conductor in Newtons.
B is the magnitude of the magnetic field strength in Teslas.
I is the current in the conductor in amperes.
L is the length of the condutor in the magnetic field in metres.

Well that's it for me. Good luck on the test tomorrow and on the exam on Monday. Study diligently!

Good bye blog, good bye peers, see you next semester Ms. K!

Electromagnetism

Today in class we watched a DVD on magnetism and electromagnetism.
Then we went over the Chapter 36-1 answers and Electromagnetism Questions.
After that, we received two new sheets called Exercises and Magnetic Fields Worksheet.
Physics test on Thursday (magnetism and electromagnetism)
Remember, Physics Exam is on Monday, January 28th (afternoon from 1-3 pm)

Magnetism Problems

01/18/08 - Scribe Post

Today, in class, we were given a booklet. It has to do with the connection of electricity and magnetism. Some examples and diagrams were shown on the smart board. I think they will be uploaded to the blog for those of you who missed it. We learned this Hans Christian Oersted person and his contributions. Ms. K did some experiment where she wrapped a metal wire to a dry cell and to some machine. The dry cell became magnetic. That's about it.

g & E Review

Today in Physics class, we went over the four questions from the "Electric Fields" booklet. Ms. K also went over the test review for tomorrows TEST on "Gravitational and Electric Fields" that Ms. K also uploaded. We were given 4 Magnetic field worksheets to read as well.

Don't forget the Gravitational and Electric Fields Test is tomorrow, so don't forget to study.
And the scribe for tomorrows class is... DUONG.

Friday's blog, which I forgot to do 'cuz I was playing games

WHOOOPPSS!!!! Totally forgot to blog for Friday. Oh man...well anyways all we did was go over some stuff like the 2.1 study guide sheet thingy. Man this keyboard is horrible. We also got the exam review thingy, which is a finely put together yellow colored booklet with extremely fine aluminum staples stapled to the top left corner to keep the booklet from falling apart. And then we got another booklet that was like umm this white paper thingy with a couple of papers stapled together, it's called Grade 11 Physics: Electric fields. And I think we also got Grade 11 Physics: ELECTRIC FIELDS on Friday too I can't remember. And I think the Core 1: Electric Field and Force sheet, and we went over the ELECRIC FIELDS WORKSHEET, and that was basically it. The next scriber shall be............

Thursday's blog

WHOOOPPSS!!!! Totally forgot to blog for yesterday. Oh man...well anyways all we did was go over some stuff on gravitational fields and stuff. Ms. K uploaded the answers to the blog if you missed it. We also had a worksheet we did together as a class. It consisted of some calculations and thats about it. After we got a worksheet, a review of chapter 21. That was about it. Test on wednesday!! Some things to consider 1. Make sure you know what formulas to use and how to rearrange them. 2. Show your work. 3. Review from way back in december. I think there might be 2 units in one test!!!
